Potential fire hazard or not, we still want an Audi RS6 in our driveway. Sure, we're ideally prefer the monstrous twin-turbo V-10 that followed the model under recall, but we wouldn't look a gift car in the tank.

The tank is where the fire risk in the recalled cars lies: a plastic valve that flexes with the aluminum ventilation line can age poorly, causing a leak, which, in the presence of some ignition source, could cause a fire. The recall affects 2001-2004 A6, 2002-2003 S6, and 2003 RS6 vehicles.

Like the problem, the fix is simple: owners can have Audi dealers reinforce the problematic plastic part and repair it if it's already leaking. The repair process will start in June.

If you own an affected Audi, call the company at 1-800-822-2834 for more details. You can also contact the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236. The NHTSA campaign id number is 11V267000.
