Germany's own military-bred super SUV is soon to meet its end, and to celebrate the G-Class's run, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a pair of special edition models: the Edition Select and the aptly named BA3 Final Edition.

The Final Edition is a short-wheel base model, while the Edition Select is long wheelbase, though they otherwise share much of the same equipment, including the same 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, 4ETS traction control, and three locking differentials with push-button control. A choice of two powerplants is available for the BA3, either a six-cylinder G350 BlueTec diesel rated at 211 horsepower or a G500 5.5-liter V-8 rated at 388 horsepower. The Edition Select only gets the G500 V-8.

Aesthetic differences are what separate the two models: the BA3 gets AMG flared wheel arches, unique twin-spoke alloy wheels, stainless steel running boards, and an AMG grille among other tweaks. Inside, the BA3 Final Edition sports ambient lighting, black leather multicontour seats, walnut wood trim, and other refinements. Pricing starts from 90,511 euros for the G350 model and 100,685 euros for the G500.

The Edition Select's exterior gets a two-tone paint treatment, with no extra charge for high-end designo colors of mystic white, palladium silver metallic, thulite red, or obsidian black metallic. Whatever color is chosen, the bumpers, mirrors, and AMG side sills are obsidian black. Unique 18-inch alloy wheels finish the look, while an AMG sport exhaust system makes it sound the part.

Inside, the Edition Select gets two-tone leather upholstery in porcelain and black. Those that prefer a more subtle look can opt for all black leather. A chrome package adds trim around the gear selector, seat controls, speakers, and luggage compartment sill. Leather door, console, and dash trim match with black velour carpeting. A Harmon Kardon Logic7 surround sound stereo system is also standard.

Pricing for the Edition Select model adds 6,735 euros to the price of the standard long-wheelbase G500.

Unfortunately, as you've probably guessed by the pricing, these models have only been announced for Europe.
