With the Convertible already launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Maserati's news for the New York auto show comes in the lissome form of the Granturismo MC coupe, which it showcased at its Manhattan showroom tonight, flanked by its droptop colleague.

The MC's spawned from Maserati's racing efforts, though it drops the European Stradale badge for "MC." Power comes from a 4.7-liter V-8 with 444 horsepower, and 376 pound-feet of torque; it's delivered to 20-inch rear wheels through a six-speed automatic. Maserati quotes a 0-60 mph time of under 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 185 mph.

Maserati says the basic specs are nearly identical to its bread-and-butter Granturismo coupe, but the MC does offer some pretty glorious visual and mechanical frills. Carbon-fiber trim covers the mirror housings and door handles, and makes up the small decklid spoiler. Brembo brake calipers are either painted in a dusky red or are simply polished. There's Alcantara trim inside, along with brilliant red leather on the show car.

About 200 copies will be built, and the order books are open--but deliveries aren't expected until late summer, and pricing hasn't been set.
