Lamborghini is still celebrating the debut of its stunning new Aventador LP700-4, which replaces the ageing Murcielago as the marque’s flagship and is already sold out for the next 12 months. However, there are already whispers in the air about Lamborghini’s future model releases including the all-important replacement for the Gallardo.
According to a speculative report, earlier word that last year’s Sesto Elemento concept is set to enter production will prove true. Based around the Gallardo LP570-4 platform, the carbon fiber intensive Sesto Elemento is expected to be built as dedicated track car in a limited run of just 25 examples.
The only major difference between it and the production Gallardo on which it’s based is that it is constructed from a new material called forged carbon, which helps keep its weight down to less than 2,200 pounds. Not surprisingly, Lamborghini describes the concept as the future of the supercar and that elements from it will appear in most of the automaker's new products.
The Sesto Elemento dedicated track car is rumored for a debut next year, alongside an almost certain Aventador LP700-4 Roadster. Like the current Murcielago Roadster, the new open-top Aventador should feature a manually removable roof, most likely constructed from carbon fiber.
Beyond the production Sesto Elemento and Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, Lamborghini is thought to be readying its eventual replacement for the Gallardo, which is expected to go by the name Cabrera and arrive in 2013.
Like most Lamborghini model names, Cabrera is derived from the name of a legendary Spanish fighting bull. Powering the car is likely to be a brand new V-10 engine developing 570 horsepower and sharing the Aventador’s ISR automated manual transmission.
It will likely be followed in 2014 by a Cabrera Spyder, complete with an automated folding soft-top just like the Gallardo Spyder.

And further down the track we should be seeing a production version of the Estoque sedan concept from the 2008 Paris Auto Show. This model is expected to arrive in 2014 or early 2015 and is rumored to ride on a new platform being developed by Porsche and Audi for several new models including the next-generation Porsche Panamera and Bentley Continental GT, as well as a brand new Audi A9 flagship.
A production version of the Estoque has been hinted at on several occasions by Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, deemed as a crucial model for the automaker’s growth plans. This four-door Lambo is expected to get the Cabrera’s new V-10 engine and may eventually spawn a luxurious GT coupe variant.
All in all, it looks like the future of Lamborghini is very bright and there's plenty more excitement in the pipeline.
