The 2011 Geneva Motor Show is knocking on our door, due to kick off press days in just a week. The latest early arrival is this shot of Lamborghini's Murcielago-replacing Aventador LP700-4, in naked rolling chassis form.
If the new chassis looks decidedly familiar in shape, it's for good reason: the Aventador won't be a groundbreaking design. It will, however, be a powerhouse of modern construction, with more carbon under the skin than a West Virginia coal seam.
Expanding the carbon fiber monocoque released earlier this month, the rolling chassis adds the front and rear subframes, suspension, and wheels. This gives us a closer look at the Aventador's inboard pushrod suspension system, boxed aluminum crash structure, and and just a tiny peak at the V-12 engine toward the rear.
The other noticeable feature is the highly disparate tire width front-to-rear, with what appears to be 315 or 335 rolling stock out back, and much more conventionally-sized 255 or 275-width tires up front. With 700 horsepower on tap, it's no surprise.
We'll have to wait another seven days or so to see the full car in Geneva. Until then, enjoy the details you don't usually get to see.
