Hennessey and DiMora, two firms with questionable pasts, have come together to help sell the new 2011 Hennessey Venom GT supercar in the Middle East and India. Hennessey, as many would know, has had trouble in the past with allegations of incomplete work surrounding its line of modified Dodge Vipers, while DiMora had been promising for years to build an extreme 1,200 horsepower luxury sedan but to this day there has been no tangible evidence that the car even exists.
At least Hennessey has revealed its Venom GT supercar--and this week the company has announced that DiMora will become the exclusive distributor for its vehicle sales in the Middle East and India. DiMora already has a number of showrooms in these regions for its Clenet Series IV Sportster and Sceptre 6.6S line of cars, and now Hennessey will be using the showroom space for its Venom GT.
Based upon the Lotus Elise, the Venom GT combines a high-tech, lightweight British chassis with a powerful American V-8 engine. From a sub-2,400 pound kerb weight to its Corvette ZR1 supercharged V-8 engine dialed up to 725 horsepower (Hennessey will also be offering 1,000 and 1,200 horsepower twin-turbocharged models as well), the vehicle is a recipe for crushing performance. Estimated figures put the 0-60 mph dash at 2.4 seconds, 0-100 mph in a stunning 5.3 seconds, and a face-stretching top speed of 262 mph. Better yet, Hennessey is also claiming a 20 second time for the 0-200 mph-0 task.
Interestingly, Hennessey has only announced plans for the Venom GT in the Middle East, Europe, Russia, Australia and Asia. Production will be limited to just 10 vehicles per year and the company already has orders for four cars.
