The recall only affects 2013 Model S sedans built from May 10, 2013, through June 8, 2013.
In total, there are said to be 1,228 examples of the electric cars affected.
According to Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA], an improper method for aligning the seat back striker plate for the left rear seat may have weakened the weld between the plate and the frame of the vehicle.
Should a crash occur, the seat back may not stay mounted to the vehicle, increasing the chance of injury to vehicle occupants.
Tesla is yet to be notified of any welds actually deteriorating or any injuries being reported.
The company is in the process of notifying owners affected by the recall. Their cars will be picked up and repaired at a Tesla Service Center. Tesla will add additional mounting hardware to ensure a proper joint between the bracket and the frame, free of charge.
