Not even shown in production ready form, the Toyota has given the public another view of this rear-wheel-drive sports coupe at last week’s Tokyo Auto Salon. This time it came in a tuned guise, called the FT-86 G Sports

According to the folks over at evo magazine, Toyota is partnering up with GAZOO racing. GAZOO racing are the folks behind the racing versions of Lexus’s LF-A. The partnership, much like Honda’s relationship to Mugen, will result in sports tuned cars that can be purchased from dealers.

GAZOO took the FT-86 and added a wide-body kit, a carbon-fiber vented hood, a GT-inspired wing, and 19 inch staggered wheels.

But don’t think that they just made the car pretty to look at. The Subaru provided boxer has been turbocharged, as all Subaru engines should.

Power output and pricing information (or even if the car will be available stateside) will not be released until the production date is closer.

If Toyota is trying to move away from their “appliance-car maker” image, the FT-86, as well as this tuned version, is a welcomed step in the right direction.
