Approximately 700,000 visitors are expected to cross the floors of the various halls that make up Geneva’s Palexpo convention center. Among them will be the Motor Authority crew to bring you the latest information and live photos.

Over the next few pages you’ll see our hand-picked list of some of the cars that we know are coming, as well as what we know about them so far. And to stay on top of it all, the latest information can be found at our dedicated hub or on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

PERFORMANCE CARS

Ferrari 812 Superfast

Ferrari 812 Superfast

Ferrari 812 Superfast: Ferrari tends to have one of the most popular stands at any auto show—and for good reason. At the Geneva auto show, the automaker’s stand will be graced by the 812 Superfast. The car is actually an update of the F12 Berlinetta but there are enough changes here to almost warrant it a complete redesign. Under the hood is a 6.5-liter V-12 delivering an insane 789 horsepower, and combined with a speedier transmission this engine will rocket the car to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG GT concept: Mercedes-Benz’s in-house tuner is taking another major step towards becoming a standalone automaker with a new concept previewing a potential sedan from the brand. The concept features a design clearly influenced by AMG’s GT sports car but the mechanicals are expected to be more closely aligned with Mercedes’ regular fleet.

Honda Civic Type R: The long-awaited production version of Honda’s Civic Type R will finally be revealed in Geneva. Some photos of the car have already surfaced and reveal a design that closely matches the aggressive-looking prototype versions shown over the past year. No details have been released but we’re expecting the car to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 delivering around 300 hp and driving the front wheels only.

Pagani Huayra Roadster

Pagani Huayra Roadster

Pagani Huayra Roadster: Six years after Pagani first showed us the Huayra, the automaker has finally unveiled the open-top Roadster version. Like the Ferrari 812 mentioned earlier, the Huayra Roadster features so many changes that the car can almost be considered a separate model from the Huayra coupe. For example, thanks to new materials and a redesign of the carbon tub, the open-top Huayra is both stiffer and lighter than the coupe. It also benefits from a more potent version of the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, in this case with 764 hp on tap.

Lamborghini Aventador S

Lamborghini Aventador S

Lamborghini Aventador S: Lamborghini will present an updated version of its Aventador that dons an “S” badge. Power still comes from a 6.5-liter V-12 with cylinder deactivation but changes to the valve timing and the exhaust has seen output boosted to 730 hp. Other upgrades include the new aerodynamics, a revised dashboard, a four-wheel-steering system, and magnetic dampers, the latter borrowed from the more extreme Aventador SuperVeloce.

Vanda Dendrobium: One of the new brands we were referring to in the intro is Singapore’s Vanda, which is promising an electric supercar developed in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, the technology offshoot of the Williams Formula One team. The car is called the Dendrobium, which is a name borrowed from a flower native to Singapore. The car will combine a high-performance powertrain with cosseting luxury, and right now it's strictly a concept.

McLaren 720S leaked ahead of 2017 Geneva auto show debut

McLaren 720S leaked ahead of 2017 Geneva auto show debut

McLaren 650S replacement: McLaren will present a new model destined to replace the 650S. The car, tipped to be called a 720S and already revealed in leaked shots, is the first member of McLaren’s next-generation Super Series family. It’s a true next-generation design with a new carbon fiber tub, a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, and a new chassis system complete with drift mode. It will also have a new brake package that will give it stopping power on par with McLaren's P1 hypercar.

Italdesign Special Car 001

Italdesign Special Car 001

Italdesign Automobili Speciali Special Car: Italian design firm Italdesign has launched a new road car division tasked with developing limited production models for the collector crowd. The division’s first car, referred to simply as the Special Car, will debut in Geneva. It’s based on the platform found in the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracán but you’ll never guess the relation. That’s because Italdesign’s car features a bespoke body influenced by the design of a jet fighter and made entirely from carbon fiber.

New Ford Fiesta ST

New Ford Fiesta ST

Ford Fiesta ST: Although the Geneva auto show tends to be dominated by high-horsepower, high-dollar machines, this year a much more attainable model will be drawing in its fair share of the crowds. Ford will introduce the ST version of its recently redesigned Fiesta subcompact. The big news is that the latest Fiesta ST downsizes to a turbocharged inline-3 complete with fuel-saving cylinder deactivation. Though the cylinder count is down by one compared to the outgoing Fiesta ST, power remains unchanged at 197 hp.

LUXURY CARS

Volvo XC60: It was at the Geneva auto show in 2008 that Volvo first introduced its XC60. At this year’s show, we’ll be treated with the reveal of a redesigned model. The vehicle will have much in common with the latest XC90 including its styling, underlying platform and powertrains. It will also have some new features, including the first application of Volvo’s City Safety system with automatic steering. The accident avoidance technology has been updated so that it can now steer a car out of trouble if it detects a crash is imminent and the driver fails to act.

2018 Land rover Range Rover Velar

2018 Land rover Range Rover Velar

Land Rover Range Rover Velar: Land Rover will slot in a new SUV between its Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport models later this year. The new SUV is called the Range Rover Velar, and we’ll see it for the first time in Geneva. It should prove to be a hot addition to Land Rover’s ever-expanding lineup given the handsome look of the vehicle and its high-tech yet elegant interior. It should also be a stunning performer as the underpinnings are based on the aluminum-intensive platform of the Jaguar F-Pace.

2017 DS 7 Crossback

2017 DS 7 Crossback

DS 7 Crossback: Yet another small, luxury SUV debuting in Geneva will be the DS 7 Crossback. This is the latest vehicle from PSA Group’s upmarket DS brand and so far it looks to be the automaker’s best. Under the skin, the DS 7 Crossback is a twin of the new 3008 SUV from fellow PSA brand Peugeot. But from the official shots, we can see that the design and detail of the DS model is at a much higher level. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing it in the United States.

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet: Despite the arrival of the new C-Class Coupe and C-Class Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz has no intention of phasing out the only marginally larger two-door E-Class variants. At January’s 2017 Detroit auto show we saw the new E-Class Coupe introduced, and next week in Geneva we’ll see the debut of the new E-Class Cabriolet. Here in the U.S., the car will be offered in E400 and E400 4Matic guises at launch. Eventually, we might see Mercedes-AMG launch an E50 model in lieu of a proper E63.

2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon

2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon

Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon: We saw the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 sedan at last fall's 2016 Los Angeles auto show. Heck, we've already driven it. Now the engineering gods at AMG are dropping the cloth on the E63 Wagon. Actually, it's the E63 S Wagon… because if you're going to build a ridiculously powerful station wagon, why not go all out? Power is a supercar-like 603 hp, all of which is routed to all four wheels via a 9-speed auto and rear-biased all-wheel-drive system.

2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid: If you want to know where the future of Porsche performance lies, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid debuting in Geneva is a good indication. The car is the first to combine Porsche’s storied Turbo badging with the newer E-Hybrid label, in the process forming a new range-topping trim for the automaker. Its arrival also marks the first time that Porsche is offering a hybrid as the range-topping option. This beast has an incredible 680 hp. Oh, and Porsche will also unveil its first Panamera wagon in Geneva, the new Panamera Sport Turismo.

2018 Lexus LS 500h

2018 Lexus LS 500h

Lexus LS 500h: Lexus is unveiling a hybrid version of its latest LS. The sublime sedan features Lexus’ innovative multi-stage hybrid system that delivers a peak 354 hp and was first seen in the LC 500h. The system combines an internal combustion engine with two motor-generators integrated with a planetary gearset, the latter forming what’s known as an E-CVT and a common feature of Toyota hybrids. However, the multi-stage hybrid system throws an automatic transmission into the mix to improve driving pleasure.

2017 BMW 5-Series Touring

2017 BMW 5-Series Touring

BMW 5-Series Touring: BMW’s latest 5-Series has spawned its wagon body style, though unfortunately we won’t be seeing it in the United States. That’s a shame because this is one handsome longroof, and it looks particularly appealing in this shade of blue. BMW hasn’t pulled any surprises regarding the design. A slightly longer wheelbase and rear hatch mean more cargo capacity, and air suspension is fitted to the rear axle for automatic self-leveling—ideal for those heavy loads.

2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet

2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet

Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet: Mercedes-Maybach has its first SUV. The vehicle is the new G650 Landaulet, and it adds an open-top body and S-Class seats to the G500 4x4² platform to create something even more lust-worthy. If that wasn’t enough, the designers also decided to drop in the biggest engine in the Mercedes portfolio, in this case a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 delivering a heady 621 hp.
