Koenigsegg has never had a major presence in the United States as its cars were never homologated for local sale.

That changed late last fall when Koenigsegg announced its Agera RS had been fully federalized. The first U.S.-spec Agera RS is currently being built and is expected to be ready in the summer.

Unfortunately, all 25 examples of the Agera RS destined to be built are sold out. The good news is that Koenigsegg already has a replacement. The replacement is the Regera, which was shown just a couple of weeks ago in production trim and will appear for the first time on local soil during next week’s 2016 New York Auto Show.

Koenigsegg plans to build up to 80 Regeras so the company still has build slots available. However, given the pent-up demand for the Swedish brand here in the states, we’re sure the cars allocated for local sale won’t last—despite a price tag likely exceeding $2 million.

Not only is the Regera a stunning supercar, it’s also got an advanced powertrain that should enable it to be one of the fastest accelerating vehicles ever produced. Koenigsegg estimates the Regera will reach 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, pass 124 mph in 6.6 seconds and crack 186 mph in just 10.9 seconds. The top speed is a claimed 248 mph, a figure dependent on the maximum revs of the car’s internal combustion engine.

The Regera isn’t the only car that will be sharing Koenigsegg’s stand in New York. Koenigsegg will also have America’s sole One:1 on display. The car was shown last year in Monterey and features a white exterior accented by some pure carbon elements and other sections painted red. Inside, the car’s owner has selected a black theme, once again accented by carbon and red elements.

The New York Auto Show starts March 23 but in the meantime you can learn about some of the other vehicles set to appear by visiting our dedicated hub.
