Fifty years is an important mark in the life of anyone—or anything—and for the legendary Mercedes-Benz 600, that half-century line is celebrated in the new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman, which carries on its storied tradition of grandiose transportation.

The second of the Mercedes-Maybach models, the Pullman joins the Mercedes-Maybach S600 with 21.3 feet of opulence geared toward the modern über-executive. Explicitly designed for chauffeur-passenger use, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman isn’t a driver’s car—it’s a car to be driven in.

Accordingly, the rear seats offer two spaces of first-class comfort and convenience, including massive leg room, easy entry and exit, and, for the assistants, two rearward-facing seats that are only slightly less luxurious. Armor, of course, is also available. For the unarmored variants, the starting price is about $566,922 based on current exchange rates.

That 21.3-foot length is 3.5 feet longer than the Mercedes-Maybach S600, with 14.5 feet of that distance between the wheels. It’s easy to get in and out of—and more likely to clear the odd high driveway—thanks to a total height of 5.3 feet, about 3.9 inches taller than the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Under the hood lies a V-12 twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter engine rated at 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. That torque is available from 1,900 rpm—in full.

As long as the car is powerful enough to reach its destination on time, however, that will likely satisfy the occupants in the rear. And those occupants will have a lot of other satisfying aspects of their travel, including reclining, separately-movable backrests (up to 43.5 degrees of angle); calf support built in to the seats; extra-cushion head rests; and of course the most luxurious of leathers, electronics, and more. Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound audio is also available, as is another Burmester surround sound system.

More details and specifications of this modern continuation of the Pullman legend should emerge following its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
