When Mercedes-Benz showed off the G63 AMG 6x6, many declared it the ultimate iteration of the venerable "G-Wagen"--more wheels, more luxury and more power than ever before. We all forgot one thing, though: Companies like Mansory exist.

The high-end German tuner used to be known for its extreme engine modifications and extremely dubious styling and interior alterations on the world's most exclusive, expensive cars. More recently, Mansory has almost mellowed--you didn't need to be an oil baron or Russian oligarch to find its Geneva Motor Show offerings desirable. The same could be said of its take on the 6x6 Mercedes, since all its exterior appointments were put there by Mercedes in the first place and can't be blamed on Mansory.

This time, most of Mansory's work has been under the skin. Where once lay a 544-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-8, Mansory's version ups the output to over 828 horsepower, with an orbit-disrupting 737 pound-feet of torque--a nice round 1,000 newton-meters, for those of you tuned to metric measurements. Mansory has completely reworked the engine with new connecting rods, pistons, bearings, a re-worked cylinder head, new crankshaft and all-new exhaust system. Those extra wheels are almost certainly essential for metering out the engine's new output.

No cost has been announced, but it's likely somewhere between the Mercedes 6x6's original half-million dollar price tag and the $3.3 million asked of Dartz for its 1,019-horsepower take on the mega SUV. In other words, you still need to be an oil baron or Russian oligarch to drive this particular Mansory creation.
