Holden has released a new television ad in Australia to sure up the locals that the brand will remain despite rumors of its demise and the fact that it won’t be engineering or manufacturing any of its own cars beyond 2017. In the ad, at the 24-second mark, a Holden designer is shown working at a computer which displays a mysterious model with a sloping roof design.

Considering Holden has been tasked with the design of two new models based on global platforms from General Motors, one of which is believed to be a Chinese-built four-door coupe to be sold in Australia as the 2018 Holden Commodore and in China as a new Buick flagship, this may be our first official look at one of the cars.

As World Car Fans points out, General Motors Company’s [NYSE:GM] incoming product chief Mark Reuss has previously stated he wanted a flagship model for Buick that would resemble a prettier Porsche Panamera.

And the car pictured in the ad, with its Panamera-like rear, muscular fenders and dual-exhaust tips certainly fits that bill.

Hopefully any new four-door coupe for Buick makes it to the U.S. market. Based on Reuss’ comments, it’s a strong possibility.

Stay tuned for an update.
