A photo depicting a completely undisguised version of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan has hit the web, revealing the car in full ahead of its official online reveal later this year and world debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The full photo, first posted up on Korean website Bobaedream (via Autoblog), confirms that Hyundai’s designers have used elements from 2013’s HCD-14 Genesis concept, particularly for the grille and bumper detailing.

The design shows a significant departure from the automaker’s current themes, particular the grille, which adopts an Audi-style single-frame design. Peter Schreyer, the head of design for Hyundai, as well as sister brand Kia, is a former Audi man.

German design isn’t the only trait Hyundai wishes to emulate with its latest Genesis. The company is also targeting the performance and dynamics Germany’s luxury sedans are renowned for. Prototypes for the 2015 Genesis were tested extensively alongside BMW 5-Series models, and much of the car’s development took place at the playground of the German automakers, the Nürburgring race track.

The engine lineup for the 2015 Genesis is expected to mirror that of the outgoing model. Expect a choice of V-6 and V-8 engines, with an eight-speed automatic fitted as standard. New for the Genesis range will be an available all-wheel-drive system, which Hyundai is calling HTRAC.
