Carroll Shelby's 2009 Mustang GT500KR
Up for grabs at the upcoming Vicari Biloxi Auction is a 2009 Shelby GT500KR, originally titled to Carroll Shelby himself and delivered to his ranch for personal use. It’s not clear how long Shelby owned the car, or how many miles he racked up, since it was sold to its current owner shortly thereafter.
Since then, the car has seen light use, racking up a total of just under 1,600 miles. It’s being offered with full documentation, including a copy of the original title in Shelby’s name and a bill of sale from Shelby to the current owner. Chassis CSM #445 also bears Shelby’s signature above the glove box, as well as a certificate of authenticity.
Shelby American built 712 GT500KRs in 2009, each powered by a 5.4-liter V-8 that produced 540 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. That was enough to send the car from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, on its way to a 12.5 second quarter-mile at 114 mph.
Vicari’s Biloxi Auction is scheduled to take place on October 12 and 13 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi. Information on the auction or on the company’s bidding process can be found on Vicari’s website.
