Now we can reveal that the 3-Series Sports Wagon will also receive the fuel-efficient option in the U.S.
Automobile is reporting that BMW will be introducing a new 328d-badged wagon this year, and claims it will even come with xDrive all-wheel drive.
The new 3-Series diesel models are expected to enter production in July, which means we’ll be seeing them launched for the 2014 model year.
So how does this new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine do on paper? Pretty well, actually: it's expected to deliver 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
Diesel fans in the U.S. looking for a little more grunt will reportedly be able to opt for a new six-cylinder diesel engine in either the 5-Series or X5 SUV.
This six-cylinder unit is said to be a brand new 3.0-liter turbodiesel that will deliver around 255 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. It, too, will be offered for the 2014 model year, and in the X5 it will appear in the redesigned version of the SUV.
