McLaren at the 2012 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix
Track conditions have also been good so far, though ambient temperatures have tended to vary somewhat, dropping from 77 to 71 degrees F (25 to 22 degrees C) during qualifying earlier today.
The predicted top temp for Sunday’s race is a mild 70 degrees F (21 degrees C), while humidity is expected to come in at a relatively high 82 percent.
The predicted dry weather tomorrow means there are unlikely to be as many surprises as in the rain soaked Malaysian Grand Prix, but the “lively” grid might throw some opportunities for teams and drivers.
At the front of the grid will be both Mercedes AMG drivers, with Nico Rosberg starting on pole and his teammate Michael Schumacher by his side. Behind them will be Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi at third on the grid, followed by Lotus’ Kimi Räikkönen on fourth and McLaren’s Jenson Button rounding out the top five places.
Going into tomorrow’s race, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso leads the points table with his tally of 35 points, followed by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton on 30 and Button on 25 points. McLaren leads the Constructors' standings with 55, while Red Bull Racing owns 42 points, Ferrari has 35, Sauber own 30 points and Lotus is the final team in double digits, lying fifth with 16 points.
