Aston Martin and Ferrari may commonly mingle with Lexus next to the greens at your local country club, but in May they’ll compete together and with others at “The Green Hell,” Germany’s Nürburgring race track.

It may be easy to first associate the Japanese luxury automaker with isolation booths of serenity, but the IS F sedan and LFA supercar stand apart in their performance capabilities.

Said capabilities will be put to the test in the normally-aspirated SP8 class of the 24-hour endurance race May 17 to May 20.

Toyota’s Gazoo Racing initiative is making its sixth run around the ‘Ring, campaigning the Lexuses and hoping to finish ahead of Aston Martin and Ferrari, just as it did in the previous VLN2 series event.

And as we previously reported, going up against them will be a pair of Toyota GT 86s (which we'll get in the U.S. badged as the 2013 Scion FR-S) in the 40th running of the race and Toyota’s sixth effort.

Gazoo lists Lexus LFA drivers as Takayuki Kinoshita, Akira Iida and Juichi Wakisaka. Piloting the first Toyota 86 are Masahiko Kageyama, Hisami Sato and Yoshinobu Katsumata.  The second Toyota 86 gets more driver changes; seat time is shared by Hiroaki Ishiura, Kazuya Oshima, Takuto Iguchi and Minoru Takaki.
