2012 BMW M6 configurator

The configurator for the latest 2012 BMW M6 Convertible has just gone live on BMW’s website, offering potential buyers and fans alike to set up the car to their exact specifications.

You may be wondering why there’s no configurator for the M6 Coupe just yet.

That’s because BMW has chosen to launch its M6 Convertible first, with the car set to go on sale in June.

The M6 Coupe will follow in late summer.

So, focusing only on the drop-top for now, the configurator offers a number of interesting features to keep us interested. There are five different categories--Exterior, Interior, Packages, Options and Accessories--and each of these are then divided into sub-categories. Suffice it to say, you can easily spend countless hours arriving at your ideal setup.

The site also provides basic pricing information for all the upgrades, ranging from the completely bare model priced at $113,995 (including destination) and reaching well beyond that once all the options are ticked.

All M6 models come with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This engine is rated at up to 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to rocket the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds and see it easily reach its electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
