Gumpert releases second teaser for new supercar

Last year in Geneva Gumpert rolled out the Tornante, a sexier and slightly more civilized version of the German automaker’s all-out-insane Apollo supercar.

For the 2012 Geneva Motor Show this coming March Gumpert is planning to unveil something new and has released a second teaser image along with the message that this is the "calm before the storm".

Previously, Gumpert also stated that its new supercar will have an "unmistakable" sound.

While the latest teaser doesn't reveal much at all, the previous one, positioned below, shows a car very similar to the current Apollo, complete with a roof-mounted intake.

However, a closer inspection reveals a few subtle differences, namely, the headlights and possibly even the grille, though it’s hard to tell due to the poor quality of the image.

Being a Gumpert you can expect a sturdy and lightweight carbon fiber monocoque, composite body panels, and a force-fed Audi engine spinning the wheels with over 700 horsepower of thrust.

Gumpert’s current flagship, the Apollo Speed, develops 800 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque and is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in less than three seconds and reaching a top speed of 223 mph. Hopefully this new model will be even quicker.

Press days for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show don't commence until March 6 but in the meantime visit our dedicated show page for all the latest updates.
