2012 Fisker Karma EcoSport
After the car was recalled late last year due to a potential coolant leak caused by incorrectly installed hose clamps, the Fisker Karma’s battery was then recalled by its manufacturer A123 Systems due to some defective cells contained within it.
Now, an additional 19 Karmas are being added to the original list of recalled models affected by the incorrectly installed hose clamps.
Those 19 cars are 2012 Fisker Karmas manufactured between September 22, 2011, and January 20, 2012.
According to the automaker, certain hose clamps within the battery may have been positioned incorrectly during assembly. If this is the case, the battery compartment cover may interfere with the clamps causing coolant to leak from the hoses. Should any of the coolant drip on the high voltage battery assembly or surrounding circuitry, an electrical short and resulting fire are possible.
Fisker recommends that owners of the affected vehicles refrain from charging or driving their vehicles. A notice will be sent out after which Fisker will have the vehicles transported to one its dealers where a technician will rectify the issue free of charge.
