Bernie Ecclestone's bruised face featured in Hublot ad

If you haven't heard about Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone's brutal mugging by now, you're probably not all that into F1. But even non-fans can appreciate the ability to extract humor (and sponsor attention) from a very painful situation, evidenced by the latest Hublot ad.

Featuring Ecclestone's heavily bruised eye and mouth, the ad for the official F1 King Power watch quotes Ecclestone saying, "See what people will do for a Hublot." That's because his beating was conducted, in part, to relieve him of the Hublot watch he was wearing at the time, as well as other jewelry and valuables.

The story behind the ad? Ecclestone actually sent the photo to Hublot, along with a note containing the attributed quote. Hublot credits the ad to Ecclestone's desire to "show defiance to his attackers," according to YallaF1.

Lemons, meet lemonade.
