2013 Infiniti DX rendering

2013 Infiniti DX rendering

BMW has just launched its X1, Mercedes-Benz is working on a compact SUV based on its next-generation B-Class and even Audi is planning a new Q3 positioned below the Q5 and Q7. Now, Infiniti is reportedly planning a compact SUV of its own.

This computer-generated rendering previews the new compact SUV from Infiniti, revealing similar design traits to the current EX and FX models. Set to go on sale towards the end of 2012, the new model will arrive as a 2013 model and is tipped to be called the DX.

Renault-Nissan’s recent alliance with Daimler means Infiniti now has access to premium platforms from Mercedes-Benz, and as expected the new DX will likely share its platform with the B-Class derived BLK compact SUV.

The powertrain lineup will almost certainly consist of highly-efficient four-cylinder and V-6 engines with direct-injection technology.

Of course, all this remains speculation as Infiniti is yet to reveal that it’s even considering the idea.
