Special edition Challengers have so far been unexciting (and neurasthenic) exercises in chromatic variation. Not so with the Mopar '10 Challenger, officially previewed today ahead of its August on-sale date. Only 500 of the special-edition cars will be built.
The Mopar '10 Challenger gets a slate of Mopar modifications, based around the 375-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V-8-powered R/T model. Mopar modifications to the car's mechanicals include a cold air intake, vented hood, front and rear strut-tower braces, and a unique engine cover.
Borrowing a page from Henry Ford's book, you can get it in any color you like, as long as it's black. You can, however, spice it up with a choice of red, blue, or silver accent colors. Twenty-inch forged gloss black wheels, a black chrome grille surround, and numerous Mopar logos and graphics wrap up the package's exterior look. Inside, you get Katzkin leather seats, a leather-wrapped wheel, Mopar shift handles (pistol grip for manual 'boxes, T-grip for autos), and a plaque bearing the car's number.
Each owner will also get a special kit certifying the car's special status, plus a sketch of the car by design chief Mark Trostle, a book detailing the car's features, and a gift bag of Mopar '10 gear.
The car goes on sale this August with a starting price of $38,000 for automatics and $39,000 for manuals. Pre-ordering is open now, though, so if you've gotta have one of these Moparified Challengers, you'd better act quickly.
