2007 Lexus LF-A Concept

Lexus has today confirmed that it will present a new two-seat supercar concept at this month’s 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, and we can only assume that it will be another preview of the upcoming LF-A supercar.

This will be the fourth concept of the new supercar (the first three being the two original LF-A Coupes and the LF-A Roadster), which means that it will almost certainly be a close representation of the production-spec car due next year. The only official details are that the concept vehicle “epitomises the purest form of driving exhilaration and performance.”

Prototypes for the new supercar have been spotted testing in Germany for the past year, revealing all but the finest of details. Under its skin should sit a rear-wheel drive powertrain packing a high-revving 5.0-liter V-10 rated at over 500-horsepower.

Limited production is the name of the game, with only about 500 units expected unless demand proves high enough to support more, though it will cost more than $200,000. Worse still, only 350 of them will be made in left-hand-drive for worldwide consumption. However, a second hybrid model may also be launched as well as an eventual roadster.
