2010 Volvo XC60
One of the most successful models has been the XC60 and with several updates being implemented for the 2011 model year, the stylish crossover is about to get a whole lot better. From the end of November the XC60 can be specified with Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake safety system.
Designed around the idea of preventing collisions with pedestrians, the Volvo system recognizes people near the car and brakes appropriately to avoid coming into contact with them. But it's far from a "dumb" system--it tracks and anticipates the paths of pedestrians, and reacts accordingly. Volvo says it can completely avoid any collision below 15 mph.
At the same time, the vehicle also gets the same infotainment system that has been introduced in the Volvo S60 and V60. All the information is presented in a five or seven inch color screen integrated into the upper part of the center console.
