Fisker Karma
The very first example up for sale in the UK has gone under the hammer at a charity auction held yesterday at the Round House performing arts venue, just north of London.
The winning bid came in at £140,000 (approximately $220,680), which is more than double the car’s retail value.
All proceeds of the auction will go to benefit the various programs run by Pratham UK. The charitable organization is an overseas chapter of the children’s charity founded in Mumbai, India, by UNICEF in 1994 and is aimed at providing education for the underprivileged.
As a special note, the winning bidder’s car will feature a unique plaque signed by Fisker CEO and co-founder Henrik Fisker.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, the Fisker Karma is a range-extended electric sedan on sale since the middle of this year. In its default “Stealth” mode, the Karma can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a reasonable 7.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 95 mph.
With “Sport” mode engaged, the car’s gasoline engine kicks in and drives the generator to provide enough electricity for 403 total system horsepower, allowing the Karma to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 5.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 125 mph.
