Original: Coming April 19th to the Beijing Motor Show, the Buick Invicta purports to take Buick a step closer to a premium car design that will appeal to the international market. Why the company is taking just a step when it could ostensibly go the whole way is a mystery, and so too is the Invicta, although the teaser released today gives us the profile and belt line of the upcoming concept.
Built on the back of the successful Riviera concept shown in Shanghai last year, the Invicta inches closer to a global design, and yet remains true to its American roots by including details that are classically Buick, like the 'waterfall' grille and and the curved 'sweepspear' belt line. Whether international audiences - or those at home - will agree with Buick's direction remains to be seen. Taken generally, and from the side only, it reminds us a bit of the Bentley Continental GT - and that's not a bad thing.
Buick says the Invicta is also the result of a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, and that "the result will set a new design standard for Buick, and it couldn’t have been achieved by one studio working in isolation. The Invicta represents another significant design milestone in Buick’s history.” That's some pretty big talk. Let's hope the Invicta can shoulder the burden.

Come on, it's a GM concept. Which basically means all the cool parts will be long gone by production. The doors, the futuristic interior, none of it will still be there by the time it reaches production.

c'mon taurus, give it a chance. the riviera wasn't half bad, maybe buick is actually on to something. them actually having a decent design idea is a completely new concept for buick so they should take it and run with it. let's face it, current and past buicks are just ugly and not chic enough to compete with lexus or mercedes

Well I'm not saying the whole car is ugly or that the whole buick line is ugly
I kinda did like the riviera concept, the enclave and that buick(which name keeps on escaping me)that's based on the cadillac DTS.
I'm just saying that front end it looks to SAABish not what a buick should be
who knows when the whole front end is revealed(or better yet the whole car)
it could look great.
