Video: Audi R8 versus Porsche’s Carrera 4S

Just last week we saw a video of the Audi R8 take on its RS4 sibling, and today we have another clip of the R8, this time up against one of the most formidable AWD challengers, Porsche’s Carrera 4S. The latest comparo is from the guys at Auto Motor and Sport so it’s in German, but the clip is still definitely worth a view.

For those who understand German, which one are they saying is better? Pros and cons?

Since AMS-TV is notorious for making long clips with close to none content the synopsis is:
The Carrera is the better daily driver/allrounder and the R8 the better track car, due to handling advantages based on the mid-engine setup.

Other German magazines have entitled the R8 as the most accessible supercar to date and called it a great daily driver, so I wouldn't give too much about this review.

Here's the problem with the R8, it's ugly.
I know people will lambast me for saying so, but I saw my first one in person the other day (white with a black blade) and it really looks wierd, wayyyy too cab forward, just an odd duck all around.
It is without a doubt one of the most capable cars, but it just does NOT look right in person...in my opinion only...

I just went to the Canadian International Auto Show and actually sat in a brand new R8. The Porsche booths kept all the cars locked and we weren't allowed to sit in them but the R8 is amazing. it made my day. I also saw two Murcielago LP640's, 3 Gallardo Superleggeras, a 599 GTB Fiorano, a F430 and F430 Scuderia.

I also made a point to sit in the new CTS and Malibu. And I gotta say that both have very nice interiors. They were offering test drives of the Malibu but I didn't do that because of time issues, the only bad thing about the interior is that lack of head room. I'm not big, only about 5 foot 11, and the roof liner was blocking the view through the windshield. I couldn't live with that. The CTS on the other hand is amazingly good looking and has a very nice interior. I haven't driven one but so far it's a very good car. I also fell in love with the Audi Q7, I'm not really into SUVs but the second I sat in the drivers seat I could tell it was special. I just knew I have to buy one some day, it's just so amazingly comfortable and spacious. I tried the A8 and it's just as good, the S5, RS4 and R8 are really good but they're more about performance so they aren't as incredibly comfortable.

So Gus, I guess you got that comment without my obvious hatred for American cars.

I guess looks are a relative thing since I think this car in black is one of the most beautiful things you'll see on the road these days.
