Toyota Hi-CT plug-in hybrid concept

At first glance Toyota’s Hi-CT could be mistaken as being a basic box on wheels but look a little closer and you’ll see that it features plenty of innovations that’s sure to attract the youth market.

The vehicle’s plug-in hybrid drivetrain features 1.5L motor mated to an electric motor, which is powered by a lithium-ion battery array located under the floor to maximise interior space and improve dynamics by lowering the center of gravity. The car also features a removable rear trunk and a deck where surfboards, bicycles and other equipment can be loaded.

This is one of Toyota's concepts that we would like to see enter production. Although it only offers seating capacity for two, a larger car based on the same design principles would be an ideal vehicle for conjested urban areas.

Dude....it looks like someone took a cardboard box, spray painted it, and added wheels. But still, it probably gets good mpg, especially because it's a hybrid........Personally, I'd give it a 5/10 if I was rating it.
