Presenting the accolade at Top Gear's annual awards, Top Gear team said “the Ford Mondeo is the only car that we could all agree on, including the Stig. “The Mondeo is a fantastic car. It’s practical, has a good choice of engines, very comfy and great to drive, so it’s a worthy winner of the 2007 Top Gear Family Car award.”
The car was picked for its exceptional driving experience, class-leading interior space and an array of optional high-tech features, such as adaptive cruise control, adaptive front lights and touch-screen navigation system. American fans can blame the similarly sized Ford Fusion for officials not launching the Mondeo Stateside, a shame really, because the Mondeo is a brilliant car.

I have an idea, let's make sure the Audi R8 isn't available in Germany, the GT-R unavailable in Japan.

gus; converting british pounds to USD, the mondeo would cost $30,000. to start. the range topper is well over $45,000. competitive prices in britain aren't competitive here; specially when you can get a camry, an accord, the new malibu (hawwtt), or just about anything else in its class for nearly 30% less.
Trust me; I'm angered too. i want my euro spec focus. I want a Fiesta RS. but unfortunately we'll have to wait another 5 years before we have all the same fords here as they do internationally.
besides; the fusion is one hell of a car. is it just me or has the fusion in the past been ranked higher than the camry and the accord in many studies?
I mean, yeah, i'd love to get chocolate ice cream, but im not going to complain about vanilla ice cream. i'm still getting ice cream.

Chris - We thought cars in the UK were cheaper now than 10 years ago - then you say equiv is 30% cheaper in the US - so we are still rip off britain! Bet you dont pay $8 a gallon for your petrol either!.
One of the things that always makes me smile when I go to the states is the amount of young people driving around in big new cars - just couldnt afford it in the UK.

Hey I think I know why Ford US sell 'not so good cars'.........Perhaps the reason is that if Ford US sold EU spec cars at US prices the whole of europe would go to the States, buy a car, have a holiday and ship it back- while still making a huge saving!!! ;-)

Ford is not selling its euro linup here because they can't offer it competitively priced...and even if they could this Mondeo isn't available with V6 which is norm for this class of vehicles. They would probably be able to lower the prices for US but that would bring different implications Ford doesn't want to experience....they tried with Mexico built Focus and we all know how that went....

RB that's almpost a valid point on your part, howeverif one would decide to import a vehicle from US to say England customs charge would defeat the purpose....
