Spy Shots: 2010 Chevrolet MPV, possible Tacuma replacement

Chevrolet is planning to expand into the compact MPV market with an all-new model designed as a replacement for the Tacuma (a Daewoo model that was later rebadged a Chevy). Unlike the previous Tacuma, the new model will be able to seat up to seven adults and will be built at General Motors’ Hamtramck plant in Michigan late next year or in early 2010.

The new MPV will also be based on GM’s new global Delta platform, the same FWD architecture that will underpin the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze and Volt plug-in hybrid, and it will eventually spawn the next-generation Opel Zafira for Europe. This latter model could even be rebadged as a Saturn and sold alongside the new Chevy MPV in North America.

As the latest spy images suggest, the new styling of the MPV will be very boxy – similar to some of the models it will be competing with such as the Dodge Journey and Ford Flex – and it will also feature four-doors and a vertically lifting tailgate as opposed to a sliding door and split tailgate configuration.

So will it replace the HHR, not a bad idea, look at the Mazda 5 better then a regular sized minivan, more fuel efficient.

There is NO way this platform is going to underpin the next Malibu. Get your facts straight. Its going to be underpinned by the Epsilon II.
