Scion is on its way out with the 2016 model year. But to celebrate its 14-year run, at curtain call the brand is showing off some of its raciest JDM (Japanese domestic market) tuner potential yet—via a partnership with Kei Miura, in a special 2016 Scion tC Release Series 10.0. It's to be first shown at the 2016 New York Auto Show later this month, when Scion will also be rolling out some of its most daring special editions of the past. 2014 Scion tC Revealed In New York
The Scion tC coupe accounts for a staggering 40-percent of Scions sold since the brand’s introduction in the U.S. market 10 years ago. Though sales of the tC have fallen in recent years, the model is still a significant one for the Scion brand, and the Japanese automaker hopes that an all-new...

In Defense Of The 2011 Scion tC
This will be a partial defense of the Scion tC. I find myself in this odd position having read Bengt Halvorson’s less than glowing overview of the car. Mind you, I get where Bengt’s coming from. The tC has been upgraded, but it’s a poseur in the cheap two-door sports car market;...

2010 SEMA: tC Tuner Challenge Live Photos
Here we have a pair of cars from the SEMA Scion tC Tuner Challenge, spanning the gap from full-race to near-steampunk. We'd have a hard time deciding between the performance of the Steve Pangilinan car or the slick looks of the Shawn Baker entry. Speaking of the Pangilinan car, it's fitted with a...

Exotic coupes are a dime a dozen -- actually, more like a million dimes each and up -- but inexpensive sporty hatch-coupes are a fading lot. From the ranks of the old Mitsubishi Eclipse, Toyota MR2, Acura Integra and even the Ford Probe and Mazda MX-6, we're down to a precious few two-doors you can buy for less than $20,000, and still have a good time at the wheel. The 2011 Scion tC wants to be in any place we talk about sports coupes and hatchbacks, so much so that Scion flew us out to San Diego this week to take our first spin behind the tC's wheel. After a day of looping around the hills...

Tanner Foust's V8-powered 2009 D1 Formula Drift Scion tC
Last year we reported on the RS*R 400hp Scion drift car that was competing in the D1 Formula Drift Championship. After its first successful seasoning campaigning the tC sports coupe in Formula Drift, Scion decided to return to the series in 2009 with another team supporting a second tC, and this is...

Scion has confirmed plans to unveil a new “micro-subcompact” concept car at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The concept will reflect Scion's youthful image and represents a new segment for the brand aimed toward the growing urbanization trend. This basically means that Scion will be expanding into the minicar segment, which would coincide with previously speculation that Toyota’s iQ minicar could eventually be sold in the U.S. wearing Scion badges. Further strengthening the iQ’s chances of arriving on U.S. soil was the confirmation last year that the minicar was being...

After a bright start almost seven years ago Scion’s sales have tanked and its lineup, which thrives on originality and freshness, is starting to show its age. The Toyota budget brand sold just 113,904 cars last year, down 12.5% on the previous year, and volumes are predicted to dip even lower...
