Why should I also consider these?
Competition has truly heated up in the SX4's class just over the past couple of model years.
One of the most direct rivals to the SX4 in design and personality is the Ford Fiesta.
The Fiesta is a little more flamboyant, but it's also offered as a hatchback or sedan, with a sporty driving feel.
The Mazda2 is only a hatchback, but it's even sportier--and is priced competitively for value-conscious shoppers.
But it's the Nissan Versa sedan that remains the lowest-priced model in the U.S.
market; it's been completely redesigned this year, while the Versa hatchback is carried over.
Compared to the SX4, the Versa has a very detached driving experience, though it's one of the most comfortable small cars.
Also completely new this year is the Chevrolet Sonic, which replaces the Aveo but is far more refined and comfortable.
And the Subaru Impreza is the next-lowest-priced model with all-wheel drive above the SX4.
Gas mileage is a weak point for the Suzuki; all of these models have more impressive fuel economy than the SX4.
