2011 volkswagen jetta Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...With either transmission, estimated fuel economy stands at an excellent 30/42/34. Safety: The 2011 VW Jetta comes standard with traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. All Jettas have antilock brakes with brake assist; however, the S and SE have rear drums. The SEL and TDI get rear discs. In Edmunds brake testing of an SEL, the Jetta came to a stop from 60 mph in a better-than-average 117 feet. Interior Design and Special Features: The 2011 Jetta has a disappointing interior, something we've never said about a Jetta before... |

2002 Volkswagen Jetta Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Steering-wheel controls for stereo and cruise functions are optional. Under the Hood The GL and GLS sedans come with either a 115-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a turbocharged, 1.9-liter, direct-injection four-cylinder diesel rated at 90 hp. The 150-hp engine from 2001 was replaced with a standard turbocharged, 180-hp four-cylinder gasoline engine on the Jetta GLS 1.8T model. The 172-hp, 2.8-liter V-6 used previously in the VR6 edition will stretch to 201 hp for the 2002 model year. A standard five-speed-manual and optional four-speed-automatic transmission are available, but the Jetta... |

2012 Volkswagen Jetta Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...In this class, I still prefer the Mazda3's manual transmission, but the Jetta's more than gets the job done. Teamed with the manual transmission, the inline-five-cylinder has some unpleasant power characteristics. It doesn't pull with much authority at lower rpm, but as you approach the 3,000-rpm mark on the tachometer the engine starts to pull strongly, like a turbo has just kicked in, even though it doesn't have one. This definitely enlivens the driving experience, but more linear power delivery would be preferable for everyday commuting; the on/off nature gets old quickly. The automatic... |

2004 volkswagen jetta Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...all Jetta models get an updated look, optional telematics and a new and more powerful 1.9-liter TDI engine (GL and GLS models only). The 2.0-liter engine is now PZEV-rated, and the GLX trim is no longer available. Also note that you can no longer get the 1.8T engine in GL trim. Besides that, the GLI sedan sports new 17-inch alloy wheels and the Cold Weather Package items (heated seats and washer nozzles) as standard, while the GLS features a standard Monsoon stereo. The wagons get a revised instrument cluster late in the model year, and the sedans get new metallic trim rings around the... |

2010 volkswagen jetta Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...The Jetta TDI features a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that utilizes VW's clean diesel technology, making this car compliant with all 50 states' emissions requirements. This diesel produces 140 hp and a healthy 236 lb-ft of torque. With DSG, it goes from zero to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds. The TDI shares the same six-speed manual and DSG transmission choices as the Wolfsburg. Fuel economy for the TDI with a manual is estimated to be 30 mpg city/41 mpg highway and 34 mpg combined, while the DSG rates 30/42/34. Safety: Standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction... |

Flash Drive: 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDISource: MSN Autos...The big advantage of a diesel engine is loads of torque at very low rpm. The new TDI delivers 236 lb-ft of torque, which translates to quick acceleration and plenty of power at any speed while still reaching 40 mpg on the highway. When combined with the DSG automatic transmission, real-world combined fuel economy is in the mid to upper 30 mpg range. The Jetta TDI drives like a small sports sedan with the fuel economy of a compact, and it reinforces that modern diesel engines are clean, quiet and efficient. The TDI Loyal Edition comes in just over $23,000 with a 6-disc CD changer and heated... |

2003 Volkswagen Jetta Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...A split rear seatback folds for additional storage space. Cargo space in the Jetta wagon totals 34 cubic feet with the 60/40-split, folding rear seat in its upright position. Most controls are high enough to be seen and reached easily.
