1995 Pontiac Grand Am Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all Grand Am models. Optional transmissions include a four-speed automatic overdrive and a three-speed automatic. The three-speed is a total wimp. F orget it. A driver's air bag is standard. No passenger bag is available on the 1995 Grand Am. Standard brakes include front discs/rear drums with four-wheel anti-lock backup. Complaints: No passenger bag. Door-mounted "automatic" seat belts and shoulder harnesses up front. Yecchh! Adolescent dashboard. Praise: Nice power delivery from the standard 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine. Very smooth five-speed... |

1996 Pontiac Grand Am Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...It dumped the 3-speed automatic in favor of a 4-speed, and the2.3-liter, 16-valve, Quad Four 4-cylinder has been replaced by a 2.4-liter,16-valve, twin cam 4-cylinder that develops the same 150 h.p. but with farless noise than the Quad Four. But don't expect the 2.4 to whisper. The decibels still need to be muffleda bit. Our engine choice fo r the Grand Am remains the 3.1-liter, 160-h.p., V-6 forthe best combination of off-the-line performance and quiet operation. On the negative side, Pontiac did a cosmetic touchup front, rear and sides. The grille still is split, but the honeycomb insets... |

1995 Pontiac Grand Am OverviewSource: CarGurus...Base model SE coupes and sedans come with such features as fog lights, power locks, and driver front airbags, but air conditioning and ABS brakes are part of the option list. These come standard in the GT trims, which add a rear spoiler and center console. The coupe makes it even sportier with a tachometer and ground effects. Drivers of the 1995 Grand Am say it is a fun ride, especially at highway speeds. Acceleration with the V6 is immediate, and there is an overall sporty feeling behind the wheel. Lots of passenger and trunk room, comfy seats, and a stylish look make up the list of plusses... |

1996 Pontiac Grand Am Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The standard transmission on all Grand Am models is a five-speed manual gearbox, with a four-speed automatic offered as a $795 option. The four-speed is optional with either the 2.4-liter or 3.1-liter engines, and carries with it what Pontiac calls its ETS (enhanced traction) system. "Ninety percent of our (Grand Am) customers want an automatic," Wilkerson said. "The five- speed buyer basically is a young performance enthusiast." Sedan versus coupe sales are split about 50/50 with the SE models. In the GT cars, the coupes are the model of preference. "The Grand Am is our best selling car,"... |

1992 Pontiac Grand Am Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The rest of the bod y, however, is much more rounded. One shortcoming are the rounded, somewhat bulbous taillights. For 1992, the Grand Am looks very much like a Grand Prix. Though the dimensions are smaller (103.4-inch wheelbase and 186.9-inch overall length versus 107.5 and 194.8 on the Grand Prix) you`ll be hard-pressed to tell the two apart in a parking lot. Inside, you`ll find lots of changes-not all of them for the better. For starters, we were annoyed by poor visibility in the sedan. Front, side and rear roof pillars (called A, B, and C pillars in Detroit vernacular) are big and wide... |
