1997 oldsmobile achieva Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...Open and airy this car is not. The oversize steering wheel makes the inside of the Achieva feel even smaller, and overly grippy seat fabric seems to want to hold you in the Achieva whether you want to stay or not. The back seat is tiny and difficult to access. This year, Oldsmobile strengthens side-impact protection to meet federal standards. The lineup is simplified to two trim levels, and the standard equipment roster is upgraded with the addition of an automatic transmission, larger touring tires, power exterior mirrors, and driver's side adjustable lumbar support. Series II coupes get new... |

1994 Oldsmobile Achieva Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...FIT AND FINISH When you log 1,000 miles on a car in two days, you learn a lot about the way it is put together. Olds has done a first-rate job with the Achieva - except for one minor thing. The fuel gauge, located at the lower right of the dash with a round face, is obscured by the steering wheel. You have to either look over the edge of the wheel to see the gauge or shift your head to the side. That was somewhat bothersome. But that gauge, like the others, was nicely styled with bright orange needles and clean, easy-to-read faces. The seats are excellent in terms of the lower back and thigh... |

1996 oldsmobile achieva Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...but the changes to Acheiva don't register with quite the amount of surprise and delight provided by the amazing transformation of the formerly horrid Skylark. Maybe part of the reason is because Oldsmobile didn't make changes to the Acheiva's clean exterior styling. The Buick gets much-needed revision to its front and rear styling for 1996, but the Achieva makes do with a handsome new wheel design. Sitting in the Achieva you are faced with simple, large analog gauges and controls that are placed where they can easily be found and operated. The new dashboard is welcome, but the high beltline... |

1993 Oldsmobile Achieva Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Being a compact, there is more legroom in front than in back, especially if driver and front-seat passenger put their bucket seats all the way rearward. But if locked in a normal midway position on the seat's travel track, rear-seat legroom is sufficient for adu lt passen gers of average size. The S drove like any other Oldsmobile. With the automatic transmission, there wasn't a whole lot to do. The seating was comfortable, the visibility better than average and the ride quite smooth for a moderately lightweight automobile. Four-wheel independent suspension for ease of ride is old hat with... |

1992 Oldsmobile Achieva Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com..." There is nothing radical here. The car has a low front end in the best tradition of today's production vehicles . Flush-mounted glass adds to the smooth lines . Inside, the design of the cockpit follows one of the best driver-oriented layouts known. A wraparound instrument panel contains big analog gauges that are positioned for easy and instant reading. This is in the best sports-car tradition, and has been used innumerable times because the full instrumentation tells you virtually everything that is going on with the engine. The transmission's shift lever is mounted handily on the center... |

1992 Oldsmobile Achieva Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Rear seat backs lower for access to the trunk and to allow you to carry skis in the car. Also worth noting is the fact that if you don`t like the Achieva in the first 30 days or 1,500 miles of ownership, you can return it on trade for another Olds. The perfect warranty would be to return it for your money back regardless of trading for another Olds, but even the 30/1,500 offer is something you won`t find at Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Achieva isn`t without a few faults, however, other tha n the name and the lack of an air bag. Like the Grand Am and Skylark, Achieva features a lap/ shoulder belt... |

1992 Oldsmobile Achieva Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Engine choices among buyers are expected to be split. Watts said they are beginning to sell more V-6s than four-cylinders. "We've got some very loyal Quad 4 owners. But pre-eminent today, especially with gasoline prices what they are, is the V-6," Myers said. The new single-cam Quad OHC is the Achieva's base power plant. The engine is a spinoff from the Quad 4, and shares many components of the double-overhead-cam engine. With eight valves instead of the Quad 4's 16, power is less, but still a respectable 120 horsepower. Olds' game plan with its new car is to offer a variety of American-built... |
