2009 nissan murano Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...Powertrains and Performance: All Muranos are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 265 hp and 248 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable transmission sends the power to either the front or all four wheels. The S and SL are available as either front-wheel or all-wheel drive while the LE is AWD only. In our testing of an LE, the Murano scampered to 60 mph in 8 seconds flat. Fuel economy estimates for the 2009 Murano with AWD stand at 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. Safety: Antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, active front head restraints, side- and side curtain... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Also disappointing was the fact that Nissan didn't make the backup camera standard on its base model. I missed it greatly, and am surprised Nissan didn't take this opportunity to be a leader in the safety department. It should have gotten a second opinion on that one. I'm happy that the majority of things I love about the Murano haven't been altered. It's a perfect size for me and my family, it handles lots of tasks very well, and it's sharp and distinctive. And now, thanks to its surgeon - er, design team - it's updated and refined for a fresh look. *For more information on the 2009 Nissan... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The center stack contains an LCD screen that is used for the audio and climate control as well as the optional navigation system and backup camera. Nissan has bumped the horsepower of its 3.5-liter V-6 up to 265, an increase of 25 over the 2007. The Xtronic CVT continuously variable automatic transmission has been refined to provide a more linear feel. CVTs provide fuel economy on par with a manual transmission. New drivers might find the lack of distinct gear shifts unsettling, but Nissan has programmed the CVT to feel a lot like a normal automatic. On the road, it took great care to keep... |

Review: 2009 Nissan MuranoSource: MSN Autos...and Nissan reports considerably noodling went into maintaining the "Muranoness" of the original. They succeeded without fault, largely because of the Captain Nemo styling. A vaguely French celebration of curves, slabs and accenting lines sets a modish tone when ambling up to the surprisingly tall and flowing Murano.Once inside, the décor is less polarizing, and driving is a serene passing of the landscape from a lofty crossover perch. Considerable effort on body and suspension isolators, inherently quiet tires and a whispering wind signature nearly eliminate occupant fatigue. Even more... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...And while heated, leather seats are a Snow Belt pleasure, Lucifer must have had a hand in these because they toast the buns in a couple seconds. Thanks to Nissan for a small covered container in the center console for cell phone or I-Pass, but why does the cover open toward the driver, making it difficult to see or reach inside? Not only is the rear window small and somewhat oval, it's also slanted, further limiting vision. Finally, the large wheelwells protrude into the door openings in back. So much for graceful entry and exit. Nice touches include iPod port and available Bluetooth phone, a... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The Murano uses a push-button ignition that is trendy and a bit annoying: Is anybody really complaining about having to turn a key? The rear seat is roomy for full-sized adults. The seat flips down easily for cargo, and flips back up at the press of a button, a very nice feature. There's also a power lift gate offered. On the road, the 2009 Murano is exceptionally quiet. The ride is supple, handling is reasonably crisp, but the steering lacks feel. Brakes are excellent: The Murano has anti-lock disc brakes, as well as stability control, side and side-curtain air bags standard. Options include... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The best of this overhaul is what Nissan decided not to do. There's no third row crammed into the back, taking up valuable cargo space. There's no needless makeover that only changes its looks and dumb downs its capabilities. While the changes on the new Murano may not be noticeable at first glance, they are there. Same as it ever was? Not even close. If you thought the Murano was a once-in-a-lifetime vehicle before, you can think the same of the second generation. 2009 Nissan Murano MSRP (does not include shipping charges): Murano S (FWD): $26,330 Murano SL (FWD): $27,880 Murano S (AWD):... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The center-stack controls are direct lifts from the company's premium brand. There are grace notes here and there. The steering wheel is tilt and telescopic. The LCD display is handsome and intuitive. There's even a push-button start system, with which I managed to somehow kill the battery even though I had the key. Awesome. If you've driven a Murano, you've driven this one. It's fairly well planted and agile, considering the bar-stool height. The brakes and steering do their thing without incident or complaint. But I must say -- as the spoiled owner of a late-model Honda Odyssey -- the body... |

2009 Nissan Murano Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The car has a new dual-panel moon roof, standard 18-inch alloy wheels, and optional 20-inch wheels. Overall dimensions are nearly the same as before, although the car is an inch longer and taller. The rear glass area is larger, allowing for better visibility from inside. Powering the Murano is the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine used in the Altima sedan and coupe. This engine, the heart of the car's sporty driving experience, cranks out 265 horsepower and 248 foot-pounds of torque. It's connected to a revised version of Nissan's continuously variable automatic transmission, which has been improved... |

Ford’s Edge is similar in size to the Murano and, like it, comes only with two rows of seating.
The same’s true of the Lexus RX 350 and Mazda CX-7, but those crossovers offer distinctly different driving experiences.
The Lexus is geared to smooth driving and the industry-leading service provided by its dealers, while Mazda’s CX-7 is a sporty alternative to typical crossovers with tauter handling and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
