2011 mercedes-benz m-class Professional Edmunds Review
Source: Edmunds

...The ML550 gets AWD and a seven-speed automatic standard. Its 5.5-liter V8 produces 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, which is enough for an estimated 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds. Its EPA-estimated fuel economy is 13/18/15. The ML63 AMG packs a 6.2-liter V8 good for 503 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. It's connected to all four wheels via an AMG-tuned seven-speed automatic with manual override shift paddles. In Edmunds performance testing, its 0-60 time was a staggering 4.7 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy is, not surprisingly, the lowest of the bunch at 11/15/12 mpg. Safety: Standard safety...

CarGurus' Review for 2011 mercedes-benz m-class
Source: CarGurus

...For the right buyer, the 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class continues to hit the sweet spot.
It delivers just about anything you could want in a midsize SUV, including stellar looks, capable performance, and just about any comfort-oriented, safety, or tech item currently available.
Of course, it all comes at a cost, and many loyal Mercedes owners remain committed to the vehicles with the three-pointed star,
despite the fact that some competitive vehicles, including those from Lexus, Acura, Lincoln, and Infiniti, offer better overall values...

Why should I also consider these?

The M-Class has our favorite blend of dynamic style and performance, but it's tough to overlook the Infiniti FX50 for drama at first sight and behind the wheel.

It's quick and sexy in a way the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne have become in their second generations; the German utes feel ever more sturdy and they're great off-roaders, and they span a range from Hybrid to Cayenne Turbo.

The BMW X5 is the Mercedes-Benz M-Class's closest competitor-in fact, just the state of Georgia separates the Mercedes factory in Alabama from the BMW factory in South Carolina.

The X5 offers a third-row seat, but it has more sedate styling and lacks the performance character of BMW's cars.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been beautifully remade for 2011: it's a distant cousin of the M-Class back to DaimlerChrysler days, and the ride quality and solidity give away that backstory.

2011 BMW X5
The 2011 BMW X5 offers impressive handling and features, but lacks the styling and interior that makes competitors pop, while the X5 M offers nearly sports car levels of performance with all the utility of a standard X5.

2011 Infiniti FX35
The 2011 Infiniti FX35 and FX50 put the priority on looks and performance, and it's no secret that a little utility gets sacrificed in the process.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is one capable, good-looking crossover—and a welcome sign of life from Chrysler.

2011 Porsche Cayenne
The new 2011 Porsche Cayenne is one of the few vehicles you can take off-road and out to the track on the same day; it's leaner and more athletic than before, without giving up the off-road ability.

2011 Volkswagen Touareg
The 2011 Volkswagen Touareg has dropped some of its ruggedness in favor of the comfort suburban families want—but it's still not quite a rival to luxury-brand utes.
