2011 kia sorento Professional Edmunds Review
Source: Edmunds

...Safety: The 2011 Kia Sorento comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability control, hill-start assist, hill descent control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front active head restraints. In Edmunds brake testing, both four- and six-cylinder Sorentos came to a stop from 60 mph in 120 feet, which is very good for this class. In the government's new, more strenuous crash testing for 2011, the Sorento earned an overall rating of four stars out of a possible five, with four stars for overall frontal crash protection and four stars for overall side crash...

...It bests the Dodge Journey's low-rent interior. The dash is solid black, which at times is overpowering, even with lighter-colored seats. Piano black trim runs down the center control panel, where the audio and climate controls are located. All the buttons felt solid and about par for the class. The optional third row is a surprisingly comfortable seat of last resort. Third rows in vehicles this size are typically flimsy and cramped. The Sorento's third row is solid, folds into place easily and, most importantly, can fit adult passengers. I'm 5-foot-10, and I managed to have an inch or two of...

2011 Kia Sorento — Review

...Though the third-row seat is a nice option, ingress and egress is about as problematic as every other model offering the extra row. The option is best left to kids or very small adults. On the RoadWhen equipped with the 3.5-liter V6, the Sorento is downright quick. That has as much to do with the 273 horsepower on tap as the significantly lower curb weight compared with last year's model. Kia engineers say they have managed to cut 400 pounds from the Sorento — weight that affected everything from acceleration to cornering and braking. As a result, steering is quick and the SUV feels more...

...A third row isn't offered on the base Sorento, but it's optional on the LX and EX four-cylinder and standard on the EX V-6. Major standard features include basic power accessories, air conditioning, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and a CD stereo with USB/iPod compatibility. Dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker Infinity stereo, a navigation system, heated leather seats and a panoramic moonroof are optional. Cargo volume behind the rear seats is just 9.1 cubic feet; behind the second row, it's 37.0 cubic feet. With both rows folded down, the maximum cargo volume is 72.5...

CarGurus' Review for 2011 kia sorento
Source: CarGurus

...Buyers looking for value in a crossover SUV should put the 2011 Kia Sorento at the top of their shopping list.
With so much to offer, including room for seven and a fresh, modern driving experience, it's amazing that Kia can offer the midsize Sorento at a small-SUV price.
Though the Kia name might not carry as much cachet as the competition (chiefly the Toyota RAV4), the 2011 Sorento looks and drives every bit as well as the segment's heavy hitters...

...Legroom in both the second and third rows was tight for adults. The third row is optional on all models, except for the EX V-6 trim level. Complaints about the second and third rows now aired, I can tell you that the rest of the interior was perfectly suitable. The black-colored interior on my test car was nothing exciting, but it wasn't cheap or tacky looking, either. The Sorento's set of standard features — dual-zone temperature control, Bluetooth connectivity and push-button start — makes it feel like a more expensive vehicle. A couple of the optional features in my test car...
