2008 jeep wrangler Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...Another Wrangler Unlimited we tested did it in a glacial 10.4 seconds. Safety: All Wranglers feature antilock brakes and stability control with a rollover sensor. Front seat side airbags are optional. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Wrangler a perfect five stars in frontal-impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Wrangler its highest rating of "Good" for frontal impacts; however, without the optional side airbags, the Wrangler's side-impact crashworthiness was deemed only "Marginal." Interior Design and Special Features: Much like... |

2008 Jeep Wrangler Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The side doors, available as full or half-size, are removable, and the windshield can be folded down for those who like to catch bugs in their teeth. Interior The interior sports new shapes, though the overall vibe feels as basic as it did in the previous Wrangler. The thin-spoke steering wheel has a circular hub, and a vertical center control panel features a high-mounted radio with circular air vents underneath. Newly available options include power windows and door locks — a Wrangler first — and an in-dash navigation system. Total passenger volume measures 102.9 cubic feet in the... |

Review: 2008 Jeep WranglerSource: MSN Autos...The dual front console cupholders are rather low. Headlights are average, but I had no problem locating key controls in the cockpit at night. On the RoadThe Wrangler is no fireball, but its V6 provides lively in-town acceleration and decent 65-75 mph passing on highways. Manual gearbox action is acceptable and the automatic transmission is responsive. The Wrangler 2-door doesn't pretend to be a sports car, but it is fun to drive — within reasonable limits. The Wrangler adroitly handles sweeping curves. Steering is quick although rather heavy, and the brake pedal has a nice linear action.The... |

2008 Jeep Wrangler OverviewSource: CarGurus...and Jeep offers an optional regular soft-top.A 3.8-liter, 202-hp V6 is paired with either a 6-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission. While acceleration power and fuel economy are not stellar, owners are willing to give these up for the 2008 Wrangler's unsurpassed off-roading capability. All models are equipped with part-time four-wheel drive, while the Unlimited offers both four-wheel and rear-wheel drive. Despite its growing list of creature comforts, the Wrangler remains rugged to the core, combining its four-wheel drive with skid plates, 10 inches of ground clearance, a... |

2008 Jeep Wrangler Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...While I didn't encounter any trails in my week with the Wrangler, I did tackle some of the roughest "paved" roads in America. The Wrangler took streets under construction as if they were part of a regular commute. I rode on uneven pavement repeatedly, aimed for potholes and even took a low curb or two to get around traffic. If anything, the Wrangler exudes a sense of invincibility that may lead drivers to try unsafe maneuvers. The fact that you can happily frequent the highway and rough roads around town, then shift the Wrangler into four-wheel drive — low or high — and leave the pavement... |

2008 Jeep Wrangler Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Features What did our rough, tough, rock-bashing machine come with as far as options? A navigation system and the optional Infinity sound system. The navigation system was nice, though I believe I'm in the minority in preferring a knob-based system to this model's touch-screen interface. I didn't like the Infinity sound system, but it should be noted I'm not an audiophile. I didn't notice any need for a boost in sound when cruising at highway speed with the soft-top attached, but I did notice all the room the subwoofer ate up in the cargo area. Maybe with the top removed the extra oomph from... |

There's nothing directly comparable to the 2008 Jeep Wrangler, but some compact trucks come very close to the same performance envelope.
The Dodge Dakota offers four-door models, V-8 power, and four-wheel drive.
The Nissan Frontier has a big V-6 option, a four-door body style, and a unique canvas sunroof that opens its cabin to the elements.
The Nissan Xterra is a four-door sport-ute with a rugged look and off-road versions that offer some, but not all, the Wrangler's rocky-road prowess.
