2009 infiniti g37 Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...the G37 sedan was awarded a perfect five stars for frontal impact protection for the driver, as well as for side impact protection for all occupants. Frontal impact protection for the front passenger earned it four stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't reported on the G37, but last year's G35 sedan scores should still apply. That car received a top score of "Good" for protection of occupants in both frontal offset and side-impact crashes. Interior Design and Special Features: The G37 offers user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...If you think you might ever want to carry rear-seat passengers, please get the G37 Sedan: While the G37 Coupe has rear seats, they are Munchkin-sized and not easy to access. The trunk isn't particularly roomy, so consider the rear seats extra storage space. On the road, the G37 Coupe is sure footed, riding a bit more smoothly than some sport coupes, but still cornering like a sports car. Steering feel is a bit heavy but precise. The suspension is certainly firm, but it was annoying only on really uneven concrete pavement. The G37 Coupe Journey starts at $36,650, but the test car had lots of... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The only problem: Where they are going to put the trophy? Mechanically, the G37 Convertible is almost a mirror image of the coupe. Under the hood is the sweetly slick 3.7-liter V6 rated at 325 horsepower (five less than in the coupe on account of some changes to the exhaust plumbing). Buyers have a choice of either a seven-speed automatic or six-speed manual (with the Sport package). The Sport package also kicks in 19-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, quicker steering and sport seats. Out in the sun-damasked canyons around Malibu, the G37 Convertible was a tolerably good car to throw around... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The difference in overall performance is marginal, although enthusiasts will enjoy shifting manually. Infiniti's VQ37VHR engine has received numerous accolades for its performance. In this iteration, it features hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift for the intake valves. Performance is robust at any speed, and the engine's wide powerband means you can pass on the highway without shifting out of sixth gear. The six-speed manual is rated at 16 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway. The test car's Sport package also included... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...You also hear much more of the growling exhaust note when the top's down, and it sounds good. The biggest downside of the convertible when compared against the coupe is its cargo area. If you don't plan on lowering the roof, there's a decent 10.3 cubic feet of space, but when you lower the three-piece roof it takes up nearly all of the trunk, leaving just 2 cubic feet near the bumper. It's hard to fathom being able to fit even a small bag into this space, let alone a suitcase. Fortunately, the G37 convertible has a small backseat that, while not well-suited for adult passengers, could handle... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...In the second row, it was obvious the seating wasn't designed to accommodate child-safety and booster seats with backs; the rear seats were slightly sunken, with bolsters on the sides of each seat. It also would be difficult to fit rear-facing infant-safety seats in the backseat; there's just not a lot of room back there. The second row's seatback pockets and adjustable housings for the front passenger seat belts are well-executed. When climbing into the backseat of a two-door car, it's easy to get tangled in the front passenger seat belt. In the Infiniti G37, you could simply push the seat... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Also included in the Sport Package are sport front seats with power side bolster adjustments for the driver's cushion and backrest. The idea here is to conform the seat to your needs: tighter to hold you in place for aggressive driving, wider for comfort, etc. Unlike some sport seats, the backrest isn't too constrictive, but the bottom cushion is too tight around the hips, even when the bolsters are set wide. My hips aren't even that big (I swear!), and others had the same complaint. Satisfying Acceleration Sometimes improvements, well, aren't. When the G35's engine was reworked a few years... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The G37 Sport's seats have power-adjustable side bolsters that are thicker than those on other versions. They're comfortably cushioned, though some may find the bolsters too constrictive even at their most relaxed setting. Manually extendable thigh cushions are included, but their design incorporates a crumb-catching gap right about mid-thigh. In the backseat, adults will find workable legroom and ample footwell space, but the coupe's rakish roofline makes headroom tight. The A5's backseat is even tighter, but the 3 Series' is better — particularly in terms of headroom. Trunk volume totals... |

2009 Infiniti G37 Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Infiniti's 4-Wheel Active Steer system is optional on the Journey and 6MT. It turns the rear wheels as well as the front ones, which purportedly improves high-speed handling and makes it easier to turn at parking-lot speeds. 328-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 with 269 pounds-feet of torque (sedan) 330-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 with 270 pounds-feet of torque (coupe) Available six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission Available viscous limited-slip differential (optional on Journey, standard on Sport 6MT) Available advanced all-wheel-drive system (G37x) Optional four-wheel active steer... |

Experts from TheCarConnection.com have compared the new G37 to the BMW 3-Series coupe as well as the 1-Series.
This will be difficult for some readers to accept, but the 2009 Infiniti G37 coupe may be the equal of a couple of BMW coupes out there.
While Bimmer enthusiasts may be aghast, they will be forced to admit that the G37 is, at the very least, a darn good competitor.
If you can go without the Infiniti owner experience and the extra seats, Nissan's own 350Z has handling that's just as brilliant.
Compared to the beautifully styled 2009 Audi TT, the G37 is a more dynamic performer.
The Audi is front-wheel drive, and this blunts the car's moves.
However, if all-wheel drive is something you're looking for, the Audi (and the BMW 3-Series) offers it, while the G37 does not.
The new Audi TTS might not be thought of on the same high-performance page as the G37, but it’s actually quite the sportscar.
