2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Rear seat backs fold, but not flat with the trunk floor. New novelties for 2010 include standard MyKey, which allows parents to restrict audio volume and top vehicle speed (80 m.p.h.) when teens drive. Adaptive cruise control ($1,195) with collision alert applies brakes if you get too close to the vehicle ahead plus sounds a warning and flashes red lights atop the dash if an impact is pending. Braking works as advertised, but we never pushed it to get an impact warning. New multicontour seats ($595) include a massager for seat bottom or back that tickles at first, then becomes annoying. 2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Stepping up to the SHO gets you unique 19-inch wheels, a deck-lid spoiler, dual tailpipes and a few SHO emblems. There aren't any scoops, ground effects or obnoxious wheels included. The SHO manages to look aggressive without being flashy, which it owes mainly to the fact that the new 2010 Taurus is already an aggressive-looking sedan. The reception would have been a lot different if Ford had tried to turn the previous, 2009 Taurus into an SHO. On the inside, the Taurus' interior is already an impressive execution, and little is added to the SHO. It's much more upscale than most would expect... |

2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Under the Hood The 2010 Taurus is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 263 horsepower. The V-6 drives a six-speed automatic transmission. The Taurus' maximum towing capacity when properly equipped is 1,000 pounds. Safety Standard safety features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags and an electronic stability system. Rear parking sensors, a blind spot warning system and a collision-prevention system are optional. Taurus SHO Ford revived an old trim with the Taurus SHO — it stands for Super High Output — which effectively caps the Taurus... |

2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Sometimes perception and reality park in the same space. Based on the Intercepter, a dark and powerful-looking concept car, the Taurus's exterior was drawn with a thick Sharpie. There's a heavy feel to it (perhaps because the Taurus weighs a touch over 4,000 pounds). But the thick three bar grille looks right for this car. Its face squints as it moves toward you, and the lower front end makes the Taurus look like it's ready to jump. Instead of giving it very small windows and lower the car's profile, the greenhouse on the Taurus provides plenty of glass. The roof is flatter than curved, but... |

2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Wheel sizes range from 17-20 inches. The Taurus is aimed at drivers who "place more of a premium on the driving experience and technologies" than on a transportation appliance, Ford says. Even the base model is fun to drive, which is quite unusual for a family sedan. Front-drive models with the normally aspirated 3.5-liter engine have EPA ratings of 18 mpg city/28 highway; all-wheel drive models with either engine are rated at 17 city/25 highway. Inside, there is a flowing dash design that oozes quality. It includes door panels made with a new process that gives the interior a handcrafted... |

2010 Ford Taurus Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The instruments have a jewellike appearance that makes them glitter. Bright numbers are easy to read in day and night. The center stack flows gently from the console up into the center of the instrument panel. Controls for heating/cooling and audio are close to the driver and simple to use. Tiny design details, such as carefully placed chrome trim accents and beveled edges on buttons and seams, make the instrument panel look expensive. The optional multi-contour front seats have 11 air cushions that deliver a subtle massage, and that helps relieve fatigue on a long drive. The Taurus is... |

The 2010 Ford Taurus is a big sedan with a capable performance edge.
The latest Chevrolet Malibu occupies roughly the same size class—bigger than the usual front-driver—but offers a fuel-saving four-cylinder version and a hybrid edition, though no all-wheel drive.
The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord also offer four-cylinder options; the Accord’s styling stretches the envelope like the Taurus and its handling is better than most full-size sedans, while the Camry appeals to other buyers who want more traditional styling and a more sedate driving experience.
