2009 chrysler sebring Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...All-wheel drive is available with this engine only. In performance testing, a Sebring Limited convertible with the 3.5-liter V6 went from zero to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds, while the lighter sedan should be about a second quicker. Fuel economy for both front-wheel-drive body styles is 16/27/20, while opting for AWD drops each category by 1 mpg. Safety: Standard on all Sebrings are four-wheel antilock brakes and front-seat side airbags, while the sedan adds side curtain airbags. Stability and traction controls are standard on the Touring and Limited, but not available on the base LX. In government... |

Flash Drive: 2009 Chrysler Sebring SedanSource: MSN Autos...I was able to get 24 mpg in mixed driving from the 4-cylinder engine, but the car was equipped with an antiquated 4-speed automatic. A 5-speed automatic should be able to generate more fuel efficiency. Nevertheless, the car was comfortable driving around town and small enough to maneuver through traffic. But at $28K, the Sebring seemed pretty expensive for its segment. –Joe ChulickThe Chrysler Sebring is simply awful. To my eyes, it is the ugliest car on sale today. The styling themes that suit the Dodge Magnum look awful on the smaller Sebring. Unfortunately, the ugly isn't only on the... |

2009 Chrysler Sebring Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...But it gets the job done (eventually), and it does so with reasonable comfort and safety. The problem is a matter of expectations, partly fostered by the Sebring Touring's styling. The car looks -- or tries to look -- high end. But its reality is that of a patrician on a budget, a motorized castle minus certain furnishings and other amenities, which are no longer affordable. Interior materials are barely par, certainly no longer competitive, with those now used in General Motors, Ford, Nissan or Toyota cars. And I'm talking plastics here. The feel and look of some plastics are discernibly... |

2009 Chrysler Sebring Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...On the other hand, the heated and cooled cupholder for the driver brought back the fun Wonder Bread aspect to the Sebring. There's a nifty light in the cupholder that turns red or blue when the heater or cooler is on, respectively. The leather seats look nice with their contrast stitching, and because they're leather, keeping them clean is easy. The instrument cluster was classic-looking and easy to read. The center stack is pretty minimal, with Chrysler's rectangular design, and that's a good thing. I have to say that all of the other controls in the Sebring were really easy to use right out... |

The Ford Fusion and the Mazda6 are both sportier-feeling rivals to the Sebring, and they perform much better in nearly every way.
The Fusion is a bit larger than the Sebring, while the Mazda6 may handle more in tune with some drivers' tastes and has a distinctive new look and feel that’s more luxurious.
Surprisingly, the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla might compete more at the four-cylinder level with the Sebring than the Accord and Camry.
The Honda and Toyota options shine for quality and dependability.
