2009 chevrolet aveo Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...Antilock brakes are optional on the LT models, but only on those with the automatic transmission. In National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests, the Aveo sedan earned a five-star rating (the best possible) for its protection of the driver and four stars for the passenger in frontal impacts, and four stars for the driver side and three stars for the passenger side in side impacts. The hatchback did slightly better, garnering five stars for the passenger in the frontal-impact test and four stars for both sides in the rear-impact test. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Controls are attractively styled yet easy to operate. The wiper is the only switch that felt clunky. The new four-cylinder engine delivers modest acceleration. The automatic transmission softens performance a little, but it is more relaxing in city commuting. The Aveo's ride is comfortable, but a tad softer than I like. MacPherson struts are used in front while the rear axle is a torsion beam. The brakes are vented discs in front and drums in back, and anti-lock is optional. Standard safety equipment includes front and side airbags. Anti-lock brakes are optional. Price The base price of the... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Power is up slightly from past Aveos. The transmission functions well enough, though I'd prefer stickshift. My fuel mileage was about 30 mpg. DRIVABILITY: Aveo corners well with responsive steering. The ride is soft for comfort, which allows some body sway, so sporty driving is not really encouraged. Antilock brakes cost extra, and the rear brakes are drums instead of discs. There are no electronic enhancements for traction or stability. There are no side airbags available for the rear. STYLING: The lengthened front end mitigates the econobox look, though in profile, it still appears stubby... |

Flash Drive: 2009 Chevrolet Aveo5 LTSource: MSN Autos...The Aveo was a hoot to drive, due to its light weight and diminutive size. It was easy to maneuver in tight spots, which is an advantage in city driving. However, the trunk is small, even with seats folded down, so don't expect to get much at Costco. In this tough economy, it is comforting to know that you can still get a fuel-efficient, affordable car that won't completely empty your wallet. – Joe ChulickThe Chevrolet Aveo proves that GM can offer a car that is right for the times. The Aveo5 is cute, it's more spacious than it looks, and it's cheap to buy and own. The manual transmission... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...A car should still be fun. The manual transmission let me press it a little harder around town, where the 97.6-inch wheelbase gave it a go-kart like feel. It whined a little on the highway and the road noise was noticeable, but nothing out of the ordinary for a car this small. There was one unintended feature: The gear shifter vibrated in my hand when cruising, especially when I'd take my foot off the gas. But that didn't dissuade me from pushing this car. Its high body rolled only a little in big turns and the car's zip let me cut off much bigger vehicles with ease. The lines of sight were... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...But it's more difficult to feel the love in the Aveo. It no longer feels like a neglected child. But it doesn't feel special. It's okay, adequate. Therein rests the difference between going to market with a car that will enhance profits and one that will erode them. Consumers are willing to pay only so much for "adequate." If asked to pay more, they'll balk -- or cross the retail industry's River of Denial to buy something they deem worthy of a higher price. Consider: Both the Chevrolet Aveo and Honda Fit have sold well recently, largely in response to U.S. consumer reaction to higher gas... |

CarGurus' Review for 2009 chevrolet aveoSource: CarGurus
...There’s nothing that makes the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo stand out distinctly from the rest of the subcompact market, either good or bad. |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Given the space situation, I was left to get creative with my mundane goods and gear. Groceries became a fixture in the front passenger seat; my purse took up residence in the hatch from time to time, or it shared the front passenger seat with the top half of my stroller. In short, it was a pain in the neck trying to live my life with this car. Chevy says the Aveo5 will hold five passengers, but I have to disagree, especially if there's a child-safety seat or two in the rear seat. In fact, since the front passenger seat had to be moved so far forward to accommodate my daughter's rear-facing... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...plus side curtains and ABS are standard in the Aura.To Aveo's credit, front seats are well cushioned and cozy, but the rear seat is sadly lacking in leg and head room for folks other than kids. To haul more than a couple bags in back, you can flatten the split rear seat backs. Talk about room. Though Aveo is very small, engineers came up with a suspension that keeps hard jolts from filtering into the cabin. And the size means it easily slips in and out of parking spaces. Aveo5 starts at $13,595 with air-conditioning, rear window washer/wiper/defogger, AM/FM/CD player and auxiliary jack... |

2009 Chevrolet Aveo Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Our car had quite a few standard features, including air conditioning, side airbags, handsome 15-inch alloy wheels, OnStar and a 180-watt, six-speaker sound system. There were power windows, but not power mirrors. Options included the Japanese-built automatic transmission, keyless entry, antilock brakes and cruise control. Inside, for the most part, the Aveo looked and felt surprisingly upscale, but there were a few tipoffs to the fact that this is an inexpensive car: While the flip-down sun visors had vanity mirrors, the mirrors were uncovered, meaning that when the visors were down, they... |

Priced at less than $13,000, including destination, the Aveo5 hatchback is one of the cheapest vehicles available in the United States.
Out of all these competitors, the Nissan Versa drives and feels most like a larger vehicle, in a positive sense, with a smooth, settled ride on the highway, as well as a roomy interior.
Our next favorite would be the Honda Fit because of its sporty driving character, cavernous interior, Magic Seat arrangement, and best-in-class safety.
Base models of the Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, and Toyota Yaris are in the same price range.
The Rio and Accent (mechanically related to each other) don't feel as roomy.
The Yaris is smaller inside, too.
The Korean pair is much more fun to drive than the Aveo, but they're not as refined because of their stiffer ride and noisier engines.
Nearly all of these vehicles get better fuel economy than the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo.
