1995 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...One item may be a blessing or an annoyance: There's precious little room under the hood, so Buick, like Olds with Aurora, put the battery under the rear seat. Relocation away from engine heat should prolong battery life, and that's good. And Buick retained a clearly marked battery connector cable underthe hood so you can attach the positive jumper cable if a start is needed. But some won't relish the idea of parking their posterior over a rubber-coated box of lead acid, and others will say Buick goofed by having a positive battery cable connector cable under the hood, but not a clearly... |

1999 buick riviera Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...Last year, Buick made the supercharged 3800 Series II V6 standard on all Rivieras. Despite its 240 horsepower, the hefty Riv needs nearly eight seconds to get to 60 mph. Unfortunately, that means many sports sedans could dust this huge coupe from a standing start. Antilock brakes and depowered dual airbags come standard, and traction control joins the list for '99. While Buick revised the Riviera's suspension and steering last year in an effort to reduce body roll, provide better road isolation and improve steering feel, those areas are still far from satisfying. Despite its unique look, the... |

1999 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...It's just that its mission is classic Detroit. And it's big, really big. Sinking into the front bucket seats make you feel insignificant in this machine with its large doors, swooping rear window and large trunk. The wide flat dash, pock-marked with round gauges that recall a '60s design are spread out in front of the driver. The seats are soft and wide. The ride is soft, the car is wide. It made me feel as if my body should b e soft and wide to drive the thing. But gobbling up interstate highway is its mission. And it's about to set sail for the last time. It would be easy to say that no one... |

1996 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The 1996 Riv coupe we tested starts at $29,475. A prestige option package added $1,092 for lighted vanity mirrors, cornering lamps, automatic dimming rearview mirror, powerlumbar support driver's seat, radio controls in the steering column, body stripes, and traction control, a rather hefty price when all you really want is the radio controls and need is traction control. The supercharged V-6 adds $1,100, but the only reason to pay $1,100 for 15 more horses is if those steeds won the derby. Standard equipment includes dual air bags, four-wheel ABS, power door locks/windows/mirrors, keyless... |

1995 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The ride was great and the road manners quite predictable. It's an excellent example that you really don't need a rally suspension unless you want to emulate Formula I types through the hairpins. In traffic, the car was highly maneuverable. Thanks to a speed- sensitive power-steering system, it took only minute movements to change lanes. And to pass, just punch the throttle and you're gone. Unlike the lag associated with a turbocharger, the Riviera's positive displacement Roots -type supercharger gave instant throttle response. The interior of the coupe is designed more for fine motoring than... |

1995 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Our test vehicle was an 800-mile car but the cigarette lighter had already died. The upside was an immediate reduction in cellular phone costs. The ashtray lid had warped, and a plastic frame around the CD player flapped to the touch. Most surprising was an early loss of window seal integrity that produced a hissing burble of slipstream and crosswinds at freeway speeds. The Riviera is not a performance coupe for thrashing around Angeles Crest Highway, but a five passenger front-driver that is quite nimble, bearing in mind the load of luxuries it carries. Value, very attractive looks and... |

1995 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Riviera is outfitted with a magnetic-hydraulic variable speed rack-and-pinion steering system that makes the car turn crisply, smoothly and predictably. The four-wheel power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes are strong. Our test car came with traction control, a device that prevents the front wheels from spinning on slick pavement. FIT AND FINISH TheRiviera's interior seems inconsistent. On the one hand, when you sit in the attractive, comfortable leather bucket seats you can't help but notice the first-rate appointments - such as the thick carpet and padded headliner. You know that Buick... |

1995 Buick Riviera Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Standard safety equipment includes dual-front air bags and anti-lock braking systems. Both are equipped with electronically controlled, four-speed automatic transmissions. Traction control is standard on the Aurora and optional on the Riv. Complaints: The Riv's fat "A" and "B" pillars are great for body rigidity, but lousy for vision. Also, though sexy, the new Riv is still heavy, with a curb weight of 3,610 lbs., 63 percent of which rides up front atop the drive wheels. Praise: A simply beautiful, well-turned-out car. Not meant for throttle-jockeys. The new Riv is more of a highway cruiser... |
