2011 bmw 3 series Professional Edmunds Review

...According to the EPA, fuel economy is an estimated 18 mpg city/28 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined. The wagon and/or all-wheel-drive models are a smidge worse. The 335i features a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. It gets the same transmission choices as the 328i. Although this engine is new, its power numbers are the same as before, so we doubt its 0-60 times would be much different than the approximate 5-plus-second times we recorded in the past. Fuel economy is now actually slightly better than the less powerful 328i, at 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway...

...The latest generation of BMW's knob-based iDrive controller — introduced last year — is vastly improved over earlier iDrives and comes with an optional navigation system in the 335is. Otherwise, cabin materials aren't anything special; in this segment, Cadillac and Audi have better overall quality inside. In its current form since the 2006 model year, the 3 Series' cabin is showing its age. ...Critiquing BMW's 3 Series can spell doom for a reviewer, as you’re bucking both consumer and critical opinion in general – but that doesn’t mean the 2011 3 Series is perfect.
It’s not that the ergonomic inconsistencies and interface complexities are terminally detrimental,
but when taken in contrast to the refined engines and transmissions and the benchmark suspensions, these shortcomings shine even more.
Thankfully, diving into corners hard with that straight-six screaming, the audio controls and turn signal stalks will be far from top of mind...

2011 BMW 3-Series — Review

...It is one of the most engaging cars to drive and is certainly the best-handling vehicle of its size. It changes directions willingly, hugs the road like a vacuum cleaner, maintains tenacious grip in turns and stops with confidence. The standard steering is heavy but quick, and it provides lots of feedback. The available Active Steering is quicker at low speeds and slower at high speeds, making it easier to perform parking lot maneuvers and keeping the car stable at speed. For even more handling prowess, BMW offers a Sport package (standard on coupes and the 335is variant) with tighter...
