...In crash tests, the TL gets five out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for both frontal impact protection and rear side impact protection. Front side impact testing resulted in four out of five stars. In the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's side and frontal-offset crash tests, the TL received top scores of "Good." Interior Design and Special Features: For those who define "luxury" as prominent swaths of wood trim and chrome accents, the TL is likely to disappoint. Subtle wood trim can be found on the base model's center console, but otherwise, this...

...It's a big deal for a nine-months-pregnant lady to say she wasn't too uncomfortable driving for four hours in any car. That's as good as comfort gets at this point, so trust me on this! I really liked the driver and front-passenger door storage "pockets" that slid in and out, making it easy to retrieve stuff from them. The cons, though, outweighed the pros enough on this car that I couldn't see myself buying the TL; there are plenty of other cars in this price range that would be more amenable to my mountain mama lifestyle. Call me hard to please, but like I said, I like what I like! *For...

...We are aware that some of our colleagues in the automotive media contend that the TL Type-S, even with its upgraded V-6, remains underpowered. We respectfully disagree. And we thank the Garden State Parkway driver who was going so fast, he attracted the attention of a New Jersey state trooper who was following us while we were running more than 10 miles over the posted speed limit. Thank you, thank you -- whoever you are. Head-turning quotient: Thoroughly controversial. My associate Ria Manglapus thought the wheels were ugly. Other spectators thought the entire car was ugly. But auto...

Why should I also consider these?

When it comes to entry-lux mid-size sedans, there is no shortage of candidates that want to suck the bucks out of your bank account.

Your choices can be similar to the 2008 Acura TL in that they are front-wheel drive.

The Lexus ES and Audi A4 fit here.

Certainly the Audi is the most sporting of the group, but it may not be the easiest car to live with over the long haul.

2009 Audi A4
The 2009 Audi A4 has grown into a more useful luxury sedan, though it goes overboard with optional, programmable handling.

2008 BMW 3-Series
The 2008 BMW 3-Series sedan has the best overall driving experience in its class and remains the gold standard among mid-size sport sedans.

2008 Lexus IS 350
2009 Chevrolet Malibu
The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu is a top contender in its class in almost every way.
