2008 Acura MDX Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...It differs from most AWD in its ability to apportion torque not just between front and rear axles but among the different wheels. Most important, compared to the earlier system, it can send more power to the rear wheels than the front and can drive the outside rear wheel faster than the inside wheel when in a turn. When powering out of a turn, sending so much torque to the wheel that bears most of the car's weight helps increase traction there and decrease slippage in the other wheels. Along for the ride with only about 15 percent of the torque, the front wheels are less likely to break... |

2008 Acura MDX Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Dual-stage front airbags, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor for all three rows of seats are standard. Both front occupants get knee airbags and active head restraints. All-disc antilock brakes are standard, as is an electronic stability system with traction control. Driving Impressions I drove the new MDX on a track as well as the road, and it's truly outstanding, able to handle sharp cornering effortlessly, especially when equipped with the optional Sport Package. Much of the new athleticism comes courtesy of the standard Super Handling... |

2008 Acura MDX Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Ria, the single mother of two boys and the former owner of a Honda Odyssey minivan, immediately put the MDX to work doing what she always does -- playing taxi driver for her sons, her mother, her huge extended family, and friends. What is notable is that Ria, a very savvy woman in automotive matters, paid little attention to the MDX's aggressive exterior styling cues. "We mostly liked the interior," she said. "We liked the ride and the comfort." And because she frequently carries the boys and their cousins, the MDX's rear-seat video entertainment package was a passenger pleaser. If she would... |

Among these mid-size, road-oriented crossover SUVs, the Acura MDX has a ride that’s better than all but the RX 350, while offering straight-line performance that’s close to or better than all of them.
On the other hand, most of these competitors outdo the MDX in available high-tech options, such as laser cruise control, adaptive (swiveling) headlamps, or lane-departure warning systems.
The FX 35 lacks a third row, but it’s the only one in the group that handles as well or better than the MDX; the FX’s ride, however is not as good.
The XC90 has a roomier third row, but it’s the least exciting to drive.
The Audi Q7 has a beautiful interior and plenty of luxury features, however it’s surprisingly cumbersome, revealing of its especially hefty curb weight.
