When Volvo launched its first SUV, the XC90, back in 2002, it quickly became not only the brand’s top-selling vehicle in the U.S. but also its best selling model worldwide. Volvo is now hoping to build on that success by sticking with the same basic formula used for the XC90--basically, combine a stylish soft-roader with car-like dynamics and throw in a little bit of luxury--and then improve upon it.
The company’s first extension of the XC90 is the smaller 2010 XC60, which sits in the same premium crossover category as the BMW X3, Land Rover LR2, Acura RDX, and Infiniti EX35. An opinion based purely on looks would say that the XC60 takes the cake in this segment, but it also comes with all-wheel-drive and off road specifications as standard, in addition to carrying forward Volvo’s long standing tradition for safety.
The lines of this stylish $38,025 machine show the freedom Volvo afforded its designers. The front is dominated by a large Volvo badge and grille, while the side profile shows slight similarities to the Buick Enclave. The rear is where the vehicle really shines, however, with waterfall tail-lamps and a wide stance completing the XC60’s well defined, muscular look.
The interior of the Volvo pleases with soothing colors and textures that fill the cabin, as well as metallic trim outlining parts of the dash. There’s also storage behind the wood paneled center stack allowed by the thin panel console Volvo favors.

The SEATS!!And structural safety that you know is there in every Volvo.Besides all of that, anyone would have to be out of their minds to buy an RDX over one of these. The XC60 and the Q5 are best-in-class...
